The market intelligence and consultancy solution company SNS Telecom & IT has released the report SON (Self-Organizing Networks) in the 5G Era: 2019 – 2030 – Opportunities, Challenges, Strategies & Forecasts. The report is an update of their 2016 report on SON, which was launched in the autumn of 2016.

In the new report, SNS Telecom present the SON market players and the expected growth of the SON market divided into regions and technologies. One of the key findings is that the operators are and will experience the need to adopt SON solutions due to the increasing complexity of today’s multi-RAN mobile networks – including network densification and spectrum heterogeneity, as well as 5G NR (New Radio) infrastructure rollouts.

The authors of the report have also noted Elisa Automate’s entrance into the SON market with the launch of Elisa SON as one of their key findings. “For example, Elisa has developed a SON platform based on closed-loop automation and customizable algorithms for dynamic network optimization. Through a dedicated business unit, the Finnish operator offers its in-house SON implementation as a commercial product to other mobile operators.”
